| ASE Spring Board Meeting held in Kuusamo, Finland on 8.-11.4.2010 | 13 Apr
2010 | | The ASE Spring meeting is traditionally held in the home country of the ASE President, and this year was no exception: last weekend, ASE President Arja Vilanko, #45425, welcomed her Board and other distinguished senators and guests in Kuusamo, in the southern part of Finnish Lapland. The programme was excellent, organised by Kuusamo senators Hannu Virranniemi, #62843, and Harri Heiskanen, #64197, with the involvement of ASE Special Assistant Jan-Erik Elfving, #53263, and local Jaycees from Kuusamo. In addition to the official 5th Board meeting, the weekend was full of unforgettable new experiences: reindeer sleigh riding, ice fishing, outdoors Bumblebee party with bubbly drinks in a hot tub surrounded by snow at the peak of the Ruka fell, hypnotic drumming of a Lappish shaman, Senator Strike at the local bowling alley, to mention just some. Local culinary delicacies were on the menu 3 times a day, including reindeer meat in different forms, dark rye bread and cloudberry jam. After the dinner, everybody gathered in the Senator bar held each night at a different location, including the log house of Simo Westerbacka, #29697. We also visited one of the biggest saw mills of Finland and were given a glimpse of some luxurious but ecological log houses. And all this in a great spirit of Senate Friendship and happy memories to take back home! |

| 4th ASE Board meeting held in Athens | 10 Feb
2010 | | The ASE Board held its 4th meeting in Athens last weekend (4-7.2.2010), accompanied by representatives from the Belgian, British, Catalonian, Dutch, German and US senates as well as Greek senators and members. Our host Costas Varsos and his wife Penelope had organised us a very interesting programme and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was amazing to visit the historical place of Acropolis, a place that we have all heard about at school during the history lessons, and to see the city panomara from up the hill. We also enjoyed the famous Greek hospitality with good wine, delicious food, entertaining music and dance - in a true atmosphere of senate friendship!, not forgetting of course the famous Senate bar on a roof-top restaurant overlooking the illuminated Parthenon temple in the Athens night. We hope that our meeting weekend in Athens will contribute to the revival of new local sections in JCI Greece. Many thanks to Costas and Penelope and their Greek JCI members and senators for a great weekend! |

| First Timers meeting on Tuesday 17.11.2009 at the JCI World Congress in Hammamet | 14 Oct
2009 | | As part of the work that the Association of JCI Senators in Europe will be doing at the World Congress we are helping with the JCI members First Timers Competition. This meeting is a chance for JCI Senators to mentor a young JC who is attending their first world congress. The meeting will be held on Tuesday morning, 17th November, in Hammamet and we are hoping to get many Senators attending. We are anticipating Juniors from many French speaking countries, so if you can speak French this will be really helpful. The meeting will not be long and it is a chance for Senators to pass on knowledge about JCI and to encourage the Juniors to take part in the conference. You will be asked to mentor a Junior and then when you meet during the conference to talk to them about their experiences. |

| 2nd ASE Board meeting took place in Elm, Switzerland 12.9.2009 | 13 Sep
2009 | | The ASE Board 2009-2010 held its 2nd meeting in Elm, Switzerland. The Board meeting was part of the weekend programme organised by JCI Glarus to celebrate its 40th Anniversary on 8-13.9.2009. We were hosted by the Swiss Senate president Peter Luginbühl, #62486, President of JCI Glarus Erich Fäh and Regional President 9 Daniel Leuzinger. The ASE Board, the other international and Swiss Senators, and the Presidents and Vice Presidents of 14 LOMs could enjoy the Swiss hospitality all weekend. The active members of JCI Glarus had organised us a superb programme and a sunny weekend with, among other things, a tour along the breathtaking Swiss landscapes with lakes and the Alps, an exciting gondola transfer up the mountain to enjoy a traditional fondue dinner, a visit to a local company bottling mineral water, and a very sporty walk up a very steep mountain to find the impressive caves of a mine that used to produce material for blackboards. All this was followed by a delicious 40th Anniversary dinner with a very talented magician entertaining us with his amazing tricks. A great weekend for international Senators and Jaycees to mix and mingle! |

| 40th Anniversary of JCI Glarus and 2nd ASE Board Meeting | 31 Aug
2009 | | During the weekend of 8.-13.9.2009 the Swiss JCI Glarus will celebrate its 40th anniversary. An interesting programme has been designed for international guests, including a tour in the beautiful canton Glarus, traditional fondue dinner etc etc, with of course a festive gala dinner on Saturday. The weekend is an international event where all senators are welcome. The ASE Board will have its 2nd meeting during the weekend. 2009 |  The JCI European Conference will officially start in Budapest on Wednesday - a great opportunity to meet your Senator friends across Europe. A new ASE board will be elected in the AGM on Saturday in a very prestigious building: the Hungarian Parliament. In order to gain entry to the AGM, please note the following: you should register to the AGM by Thursday at noon at the latest. When entering the Parliament building you must have a valid registration badge on as well as a valid national identity card or passport with you. You will go through an electric scanner at the entrance so please be early. After the AGM there will be a bus transportation to the venue of the pre-Senator Luncheon reception. For more detailed instructions on the AGM please check the document “Instructions for AGM” on this website under the section “Meetings – 2008-2009 – Annual General Meeting in Budapest”. |

| ASE SPRING CONFERENCE TOOK PLACE IN BATH, ENGLAND, ON 3-5.4.2009 | 22 Apr
2009 | | The ASE Board 2008-2009 held its 5th meeting in Bath, England, on 4.4.2009. The Board meeting was part of the programme of the traditional ASE Spring Conference which gathers the current ASE Board members and past European Senate Presidents with their partners to meet and mingle, to enjoy great Senate Friendship for a weekend. This time the weekend had been excellently organised in the historical city of Bath by European Senate President Clare Ashton, #31337, and her Runner Mike Ashton, #11913. The programme was full of surprises and historical places to visit: local pub lunches, old coach tour to Castle Combe with a Champagne Picnic, Bumblebee Club at the Cross Bath, Gala diner in the Pump Room of the ancient Roman baths with men wearing togas – could there be more suitable surroundings for senators to have dinner, discuss important issues and have fun?! |
